OSA International relied on Absen’s X5 LED display system to deliver consistent tour visuals for country artist Megan Moroney, whose growing popularity has brought her to a broad mix of performance environments throughout the year. Moroney’s rise—from the success of “Tennessee Orange” and her debut EP to her albums Lucky in 2023 and Am I Okay? in 2024—has taken her team from arenas and festivals to rodeos and outdoor stages, creating demanding conditions for touring equipment.

To meet those challenges, OSA International selected Absen’s X5, a legacy display solution no longer in production but still used widely for outdoor rental applications. The decision centered on stability, serviceability and durability during transport and repeated builds.

Matt Searle, video director for OSA International, said the X5 tiles performed reliably in all conditions, including weather-sensitive venues such as Red Rocks. “The reliability and durability really come from the standard of the tile itself,” he said. “You can put a lot of weight on it, and if you need to swap out a tile, it’s easy to do so.” He noted the design avoided pressure-point issues common in other systems, helping reduce load-in and load-out times. After more than 60 shows, he reported that the X5 “looked just as good as it did on the first show.”

Searle added that the rugged construction directly supported show execution. “The durability of the tiles made it so that we knew we had a safe show,” he said. “It made it good for me directing the show, knowing everything was safe and performing the way it should.”

Absen’s U.S. technical support team further contributed to reliability. Searle said early-tour issues were resolved quickly. “As soon as I had issues on the first show out, they had a technician available standing by,” he said. “It felt good going across the country and other countries knowing they were a phone call away.”

Timmy Abercrombie, production manager for the tour, highlighted the system’s adaptability. The heavier X5 tiles allowed the crew to secure the walls safely in varying weather conditions while maintaining fast build times. “It’s been a system that’s worked,” Abercrombie said. “The build time is completely fast and efficient.” He also noted a rapid technical fix during a show earlier in the year. “Within 10 minutes, they had it fixed. Everything was up and running, and we were ready for the show that night.”

Niel Niu, mechanical design engineer for Absen Inc., said the company’s support-first approach plays a key role in product longevity. “We are not only an LED manufacturing company; we are a full solution support partner,” he said. He added that the X5’s durability and service-friendly design reflect the engineering principles that continue across Absen’s product lines today.

Absen’s X5 is a 5.2 mm LED display designed for outdoor rental environments, offering front and rear module access for fast component changes, brightness exceeding 5000 nits and a high refresh rate for visibility across varied lighting conditions. For OSA International, the system’s combination of rugged design and responsive support helped deliver consistent visuals throughout Moroney’s demanding tour schedule.
