Legrand announced at CEDIA Expo a new software for its Nuvo Player Portfolio system, making its multiroom wireless system less expensive and easier to install. The new software, version 3.0, eliminates the need for the system’s Gateway, enabling the system’s P100, P200 and P300 wireless players to connect directly to a home’s existing WiFi router. A step-by-step setup wizard is included in the software to simplify installation, which is all completed by way of the app. Users will also need to download a free update to their iOS or Android app from the App Store or Google Play.
Nuvo’s wireless player components are Wi-Fi certified and the new software supports direct communication between the players and any Wi-Fi Certified dual band router. The new software will have no affect on those systems currently employing the Gateway. Werder was quick to add that a system can also operate with a combination of Gateway connected devices and devices connected wirelessly directly to the home’s router.
The Nuvo Player Portfolio System provides direct streaming from personal music collections and Internet radio services including Sirius XM, Pandora, Rhapsody and recently added iHeartRadio. The system, which can accommodate up to 16 zones, is controlled through the Player Portfolio App available for Apple and Android mobile devices.
