New Visionary XB5 Enables Single USB-C Connectivity for BYOD in AV-over-IP Environments
Visionary has introduced the XB5, a USB-C conferencing bridge that enables seamless bring-your-own-device (BYOD) integration into AV-over-IP environments. The XB5 provides a single-cable solution delivering video, audio, Ethernet and charging through one USB-C connection, while integrating natively into Visionary’s 1GbE AV-over-IP ecosystem.
Designed for conference rooms, boardrooms, classrooms and other professional audiovisual settings, the XB5 allows users to connect personal laptops directly to the room’s audiovisual system using a single USB-C cable. The device supports bi-directional 4K60 4:4:4 video, high-quality audio, wired Ethernet access and up to 100W of charging power, with no software installation or driver configuration required. The XB5 is compatible with industry-standard UVC and UAC protocols, ensuring plug-and-play operation with Windows, macOS and ChromeOS devices.
For AV integrators, the XB5 simplifies system design and deployment by eliminating the need for separate USB extenders, video switchers and audio interfaces. Fully compatible with Visionary’s 5-Series endpoints, the XB5 operates within a scalable AV-over-IP network using standard 1GbE switches. It supports AES67 and Dante audio, including embedding and de-embedding of AEC-processed audio, for easy integration with DSPs and networked audio systems. The XB5 also features PoE+ power and a fanless design for simplified installation and reduced failure points.
For end users, the XB5 streamlines collaboration. By connecting a laptop with a single USB-C cable, users can instantly access the room’s cameras, microphones, speakers and displays, enabling a consistent conferencing experience with platforms like Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Webex and others. The XB5’s virtual matrix routing allows far-end participants and local content to be shared across the network with minimal latency, enhancing meeting efficiency and communication quality.
