NEC Display Solutions aids accurate diagnostics image reporting with enhanced grayscale medical display

phpHMnlhAAMMunich, 20 February, 2015 – NEC Display Solutions Europe has unveiled the MD212G3, a grayscale medical display for use in precise diagnostics image reporting in radiography as well as CT, MRI and other medical imaging scenarios.

The 3 megapixel 21.3-inch medical-grade display combines 10-bit grayscale reproduction with a special anti-reflection coating to offer a detailed image for medical viewing, interpretation and diagnosis. Additionally, the display’s built-in front sensor constantly monitors and regulates the luminance of the display for short and long term.

“Grayscale medical displays are still a vital part of the diagnostic interpretation equipment and the 3 megapixel resolution and crisp image reproduction help ensure that even early stage problems are correctly identified,” said Erik Elbert, Product Engineer for Medical Display Solutions at NEC Display Solutions Europe. “As a prime example, these types of displays can play an important role in critical assessment of diseases and injuries. It requires the best image possible for the smallest indicators to be identified and medical treatments be initiated accordingly.”

Designed for the demanding needs of healthcare professionals in medical imaging, this 3MP model offers out-of-the-box calibration to the DICOM grayscale standard display function. Furthermore, an ad-hoc DICOM conformance test can be performed on the display at any time and the included GammaCompMD QA software also enables easy calibration, maintenance and quality assurance ensuring accurate performance over the entire lifetime of the display.

The range of connectivity options – including DisplayPort and DVI-D – and its four-way ergonomic stand allows ensure the radiologists to read medical images in a comfortable way.

Technically, the MD212G3 display offers a 1400:1 contrast ratio, 2048 x 1536 native resolution, and 400 cd/m2 of calibrated luminance. The use of an LED backlight means the display uses less energy, is more efficient and is mercury free.

Availability

The NEC MD212G3 display will be available through authorised resellers across EMEA from February 2015. To guarantee the display performance as specified, an NEC MD212G3 display must only be used in conjunction with NEC approved display controller boards and drivers.
