Neat Introduces BYOD Options and Second-Generation Neat Bar
Neat has announced new features designed for larger meeting spaces, expanded bring-your-own-device (BYOD) capabilities, and the launch of the Neat Bar Generation 2. The company also introduced updates to its Neat App Hub platform.
A key addition is support for dual Neat Centers, allowing two companion devices to be used together to improve video and audio coverage in large meeting rooms. Neat’s machine-learning technology enables the dual Centers and front-of-room device to coordinate framing, so each person is captured once, even while moving. The system provides individual framing for participants and aims to maintain clear audio and consistent camera angles.
Neat also introduced two video features aimed at improving meeting focus and clarity:
Neat Focus allows users to define specific camera zones, letting the Neat Center(s) and front-of-room device highlight speakers within those areas.
Speaker Framing uses AI to track and display the active and most recent speaker from the most suitable camera angle. This feature helps remote participants follow conversations in real time.
In addition, Neat Bar Generation 2 is now available without the Neat Pad and can operate in BYOD mode. This version allows users to connect a laptop using a single USB cable. Devices running in BYOD-only mode can be managed through Neat Pulse and are included in the free Neat Pulse Starter plan. Customers can also continue using Neat Bar Gen 2 with Microsoft Teams, Zoom or Neat App Hub.
The Neat App Hub has expanded with a new category for video calling services. Previously focused on workplace experience and shared collaboration tools, the platform now supports additional video communication options. Users can run video apps alongside other collaboration tools on Neat Board devices or deploy them in kiosk-style setups on Neat Bar Gen 2, Neat Bar Pro and Neat Frame.
The first wave of video calling apps includes Airtame, Dialpad, Mago, Private Discuss, Vconsol, Video Window and Zoho. Beta access will begin this summer on select devices, with broader availability across all Generation 2 hardware to follow.
