Nanolumens and Noro Partner to Launch Portal for Human-Centered Hybrid Collaboration

Nanolumens and Noro have announced a strategic partnership to introduce Portal, a hybrid collaboration system designed to make remote interaction feel as natural as meeting in person. The companies unveiled the platform this week, combining Nanolumens’ dvLED display technology with Noro’s intelligent camera and spatial imaging systems.
Unlike conventional conferencing setups, Portal creates a full-scale, real-time sense of presence with true-to-life proportions, spatial depth, and natural body language — without the need for headsets, glasses or complex hardware. The collaboration leverages Nanolumens’ engineering expertise in high-resolution LED displays and Noro’s leadership in life-size, immersive communications design.
“Portal is setting a new standard for hybrid collaboration,” said Kurt DeYoung, chief revenue officer for Nanolumens. “By uniting our display engineering with Noro’s spatial camera intelligence, we’ve created a system that redefines what remote collaboration can feel like. Together, we’re closing the gap between physical and virtual presence.”
Noro’s Head of Client Relations, Teun Hilte, emphasized the platform’s human-centered approach. “Noro’s mission has always been to make distance irrelevant,” Hilte said. “We put the human element front and center of the experience, and the design-driven LED display solutions of Nanolumens bring clarity and presence to every interaction.”
The Portal platform is built on a shared mission to make hybrid collaboration more human by removing barriers to presence, engagement and simplicity. Early pilot programs have showcased its impact across corporate and academic settings. “It felt like glimpsing a bit of the future with huge portals where you could see full-size versions of people in meetings,” said Nick Bloom, professor at Stanford University. “We had a call to New York, and it felt connected to see people’s movement as they walked around, rather than just their heads.”
Stuart Bern, managing director for the Americas at JLL, said the experience surpassed expectations. “The energy was something that cannot be explained but must be experienced,” he said. “The benefits of connecting team members across offices while reducing travel costs and emissions is just the beginning.”
Nanolumens and Noro plan to launch Portal globally through their existing integrator networks, with configurations designed for enterprise, education and command environments. The platform’s initial rollout is scheduled for early 2026.
