MSolutions Expands USB and USB-C Testing Capabilities on MS-TestPro

MSolutions has announced new enhancements to the USB and USB Type-C testing functionality of its MS-TestPro UCT module, adding deeper diagnostic tools to help integrators manage complex USB-C installations. The update strengthens the MS-TestPro’s role as the AV industry’s only dedicated device for qualifying USB-C cables and interfaces.
The upgraded module now provides expanded testing parameters, including device type identification, tier classification, peak power measurement, and advanced bandwidth detection. These additions give technicians a more complete understanding of USB signal and power performance across devices and connections.
“The camera, video, audio, and power functions can be registered in the USB hub chain at different tiers, which may influence their operation and connectivity,” said Ariel Marcus, CTO of MSolutions. “By analyzing the chain structure, it is possible to reactivate all devices and ensure proper functionality. The UCT evaluates how many tiers are already in use and whether sufficient USB resources remain available from the host.”
Marcus added that USB testing poses more variables than HDMI testing, which is typically binary. “USB and USB-C testing is far more comprehensive because it involves multiple layers of technology,” he said.
The MS-TestPro’s enhanced UCT module helps AV professionals validate reliable USB operation between cameras, extenders, displays, and host devices—particularly in conference rooms, classrooms, and hybrid meeting spaces. The tool identifies whether cables meet compliance standards for data transfer, charging, and video transmission while confirming that available bandwidth and power resources match system needs.
“The UCT will test and validate the health of your USB and USB-C cables and signals, but also support backwards compatibility with USB 2.0 and other formats to give the installer a view of the entire spectrum,” said Eliran Toren, CEO of MSolutions. “The UCT drills down to comprehensively provide all vital information about USB resources, the size of the packets moving from host to device, and which wires are physically connected.”
The modular MS-TestPro platform also supports certification and analysis for HDBaseT, HDMI and DC resistance, allowing installers to switch modules for multi-format infrastructure validation in one handheld device.
