Modern Atomics Debuts Battery-Storage System (Kind-of) to Control Shades
The Modern Atomics Reaktor is a power distribution unit designed for motorized window shades. Using Modern Atomics’ patented artificial intelligence technology, Reaktor reduces up to 99.75% of quiescent current, potentially saving up to 412 kilowatt-hours per year. A built-in ammeter displays real-time energy savings for all connected shades.
Reaktor is designed for easy installation. It operates on 24-48V DC power, eliminating the need for a licensed electrician or conduit. It can be powered through a passive PoE injector or a Somfy 24V inline bus power supply. Reaktor connects to shade motors using CAT 5 cable and RJ45 connectors and can power up to 22 shades, compared to other units that support a maximum of eight. It is also compatible with green energy sources, including the Modern Atomics Solar Panel Kit and Tesla Solar Roof panels.
Reaktor has a compact footprint of 44.5 mm (H) x 216 mm (W) x 254 mm (D), saving up to 60% of rack space or 80% of wall space. It is compatible with Somfy motors, which are widely used in indoor and outdoor shades, including brands such as Screen Innovations, Draper, BTX, Corradi, Sol-Lux, Spring Blinds, Clara, Alta, Universal Window Coverings, Peachtree, Graber, and SunSetter.
Reaktor integrates with major control systems, including Control4, Crestron Home, Crestron SIMPL, Elan, URC, RTI, and Bond Bridge Pro.
