Welcome to the rePLAY of the 2024 Commercial Integrator Expo, hosted by managing editor at rAVe [PUBS], Steph Beckett, and editor-in-chief of LAVNCH [CODE], Megan A. Dutta. This year’s Commercial Integrator Expo was a big success, but our recap can only cover so much, so make sure to check out our microsite to get the full details of the event.
For those of you who don’t know, Commercial Integrator Expo is a show that coexists with CEDIA Expo, but focuses more on the latest and greatest resimercial technology. The event is only in its second year but has already established its place in the industry, with an audience made up of 30% first-time attendees. In this rePLAY event, we dive into the new products and trends from the expo, hear from experts about their outlook of the event and share our personal favorite moments. So sit back and read our recap, but don’t forget to watch the whole event on demand for exclusive clips from the expo floor, product demonstrations and more!
After an insightful recap from Steph and Megan, we heard from our first guest, Jason McGraw, the group vice president of Emerald, who owns CEDIA and CIX Expo. He shared excitement about the expo’s success, saying that there were “some stunning exhibit displays, great content programs, awesome keynote and Smart Stage sessions”. McGraw was proud of the event’s outreach, specifically the increased diversity in products such as LED, shade manufacturers, mount manufacturers, signal processing, digital signage and unified communication solutions. Not only is the expo expanding, but CIX is slowly filling a gap in the market by providing a space where the main focus is on resimercial products. McGraw ended his segment with his hopes for Commercial Integrator Expo 2025 saying “people walk away with a lot of takeaways and product ideas for their projects moving forward.”
Next up on our guest list was Mark Coxon, the director of business development at XTG, AVI-SPL, who shared his top three products with us, one of which was the MaxColor Video Tiler Screen by Just Add Power. A common theme he found among his favorite products and the rest on the show floor in general was the continued movement toward fit and finish and clean aesthetics of products. He also mentioned that there’s a trend of personalization in products, which comes with a growing focus on workplace experience. Coxon thinks that CIX did a good job of inviting partners that follow that sentiment, but believes that the show has not yet reached its potential, which he somewhat attributes to it being in Denver, which is hard to reach for some.
Steph and Megan wrapped up the recap by going over some of their favorite new products, most of which were featured on rAVe’s Best of Commercial Integrator Expo Awards 2024. Among these was the Sony FW-98BZ53L Series with non-glare coating (below), which is a large format 4K display that can be used for corporate, education, retail, public spaces and residential environments, and is most useful in rooms with floor to ceiling windows as it eliminates any glare while maintaining color and brightness. It received our best resimercial product award for a reason!
We featured many other products during rePLAY, such as the SBC-branded .7mm COB vLED Display (below), SoundTube’s DSM-16 with Dante Integration and a multimedia conferencing system by Televic — but also so many more.
