McIntosh Labs Launches New RS150 and RS250 Wireless Loudspeaker Systems
McIntosh Labs launched the RS150 Wireless Loudspeaker and RS250 Wireless Loudspeaker System. Both the mono RS150 and stereo RS250 are complete wireless speaker solutions that do not require a dedicated control app as they both have built-in streaming technologies including Spotify Connect, TIDAL Connect, Apple AirPlay 2, Bluetooth, Chromecast and Roon. The RS150 is $1,200 USD and the RS250 lists for $3,000 USD.
The RS150 Wireless Loudspeaker offers the following features:
- Moderate size
- Updated version of the successful RS100
- Replaces the predeceasing unit with double the power output (from 60 watts total power to 120 watts total power)
- Directly connects to popular streaming apps
- Woofer enlarged from a 4 inches to a 5-1/4-inch diameter driver, 90 watts of power and a reengineered encloser
- Removable speaker grille
- Bass control to fine-tune low-end performance
- Glass front panel on the lower section of the speaker
The RS250 Wireless Loudspeaker System offers the following features:
- Features turntable connectivity via the dedicated phono input
- Ability to connect to television via an audio-only HDMI Audio Return Channel (ARC) input
- System connects to ARC compatible TV’s
- Offers a sizeable 650 Watts of total power that is delivered to two 4-inch by 6-inch woofers, four 2-inch midranges and two ¾-inch tweeters
- Midranges and tweeters are front firing, woofers are down firing
- The woofer enclosure has been reengineered to reduce distortion with improved bass control
- Can be connected to an external powered subwoofer
- To enjoy non-streaming music, the RS250 has an optical input to connect digital sources and a 3.5-millimeter AUX input for connecting other music sources
- Features a ¼-inch headphone jack on the front panel permits personal listening

- Uses Qualcomm aptX HD for hi-res audio playback and Qualcomm aptX Low Latency for synching between audio and video
- A new illuminated digital output meter to collect and process the audio signals
