Matrox Video Introduces ORIGIN Fabric SDK for AV-over-IP Workflows

Matrox Video has released the ORIGIN Fabric, a C++ software development kit designed to let developers share media content between applications using the most efficient available transport method.

The ORIGIN Fabric serves as a universal transport layer with built-in routing and redundancy. It is based on the media fabric layer from the Matrox ORIGIN asynchronous media framework but is available as a stand-alone, enhanced SDK for OEMs and software developers.

Matrox ORIGIN, the broader framework from which ORIGIN Fabric was derived, aligns with the European Broadcasting Union and Linux Foundation’s Media eXchange Layer initiative, which promotes open, modular IP media infrastructures. The framework supports building asynchronous, media-aware systems on off-the-shelf IT hardware and cloud platforms, with modular architecture, REST APIs and platform-agnostic deployment.

Matrox will showcase the ORIGIN Fabric and its live production solutions at IBC 2025. The lineup includes Avio 2 IP KVM extenders supporting IPMX, ST 2110 and NMOS; ConvertIP Series ST 2110/IPMX encoders, decoders and converters; Vion multi-channel 4K IP video gateway; Monarch EDGE low-latency encoders and decoders; and developer tools such as SDI I/O cards, ST 2110 network interface controller cards, H.264 encoder and decoder cards, and SDKs.

The company said support for standards such as ST 2110, IPMX and MXL reflects its commitment to open, interoperable media infrastructures for broadcast, live production and cloud-native workflows.
