THIS IS A PROMOTED POST

magewell

Welcome to this series highlighting some of the manufacturers and brands that will be featured on the show floor at ISE 2025. As we gear up for the event, we wanted to share a preview of what these companies are bringing to the table — from new products to insights about their focus for the show. These conversations offer a closer look at what you can expect and a chance to get to know the people behind the brands before the doors open in Barcelona. This interview is with Magewell’s Nick Ma, CEO and CTO.

Q: Why is Magewell exhibiting at ISE this year?

A: Magewell always has multiple goals for exhibiting at major global events, and this year’s ISE is no exception. Of course, ISE is the perfect place to build awareness for our newest product announcements and to let attendees experience these new solutions first-hand.

It’s also a very important opportunity for us to stay connected with our customers, discuss their upcoming needs and hear their requests. This type of feedback is crucial in shaping our product roadmap. We also look forward to establishing new technology partnerships and channel partnerships as we explore opportunities to broaden our reach in the Pro AV market.

Q: What trends do you think we’ll see on the show floor and how is your company positioned to capitalize on these opportunities?

A: We see that IP-based streaming and production workflows have become more pervasive in the Pro AV market and are benefiting more organizations, institutions and AV professionals. Magewell is well-positioned to help AV customers take advantage of these trends, as we have been on the leading edge of IP-based workflows in the broadcast production space even before they became popular in Pro AV environments.

Each AV-over-IP and streaming technology has its own advantages, and AV professionals are often using more than one such technology in their workflows. This increases the need for seamless conversion between IP streams in different formats and technologies, or to bring varying IP formats into and out of traditional HDMI or SDI-based workflows.

Magewell’s IP encoder and IP decoder solutions have long been loved by video professionals for their robust encoding and decoding capabilities, as well as their reliability for LAN/WAN network content transportation. Our scalable Modator family expands our range of IP solutions and will be making its ISE debut. It features the Modator 2U rack-mountable chassis, which can host up to ten modular blades. This gives AV professionals the flexibility to combine various encoding and/or decoding modules to customize an IP solution that can be quickly and easily installed.

Q: What new products or solutions are you showcasing at ISE and how do they address current industry challenges?

A: I mentioned the ISE Debut of our Modator family above, and we’ll be demonstrating it along with multiple models of modular blades that support IP technologies including NDI and more.

One of the product lines that Magewell is most well-known for in the Pro AV market is our plug-and-play USB Capture series, which is the easiest and most reliable way for users to bring HDMI or SDI signals into software-based AV solutions. At ISE we’ll be showcasing the new USB Capture HDMI 4K Pro model, which expands the USB Capture family with the ability to capture 4K at 60 frames per second with full 4:4:4 chroma over a 20Gbps USB 3.2 Gen 2×2 interface. Its ability to capture 4K into software at the higher 60fps rate is ideal as 4K becomes more ubiquitous in live production applications.

We will also be showing the latest feature additions to our Director Mini all-in-one production and streaming solution. Director Mini is ideal for corporations, educational institutions and houses of worship that are expanding their creation of live productions, because it gives users everything they need – multi-input switching, graphics, monitoring, recording and streaming – in one compact device. It also offers exceptional input flexibility including HDMI, USB, IP (NDI, NDI HX, SRT and more) and mobile camera inputs, so it integrates easily into any workflow. Organizations are putting even greater emphasis on production values as they strive to better engage and hold the attention of employees and students, and Director Mini gives them the tools to do that.

Magewell’s Modator family brings the reliability and low-latency performance of the company’s standalone IP encoders and decoders to a high-density, modular, rackmount form factor. Hot-swappable Modator modules work independently to convert between baseband video/audio signals and IP streams including NDI.

Q: How is your company expanding its global presence besides exhibiting at ISE 2025?

A: Magewell already has a very strong global footprint, with representatives or channel partners in more than 50 countries, but we’re always looking to further strengthen our international presence. We exhibit at trade shows in many countries and regions around the globe each year, as well as participating in local events in conjunction with our global channel partners. We’re also expanding our investment in creating our own high-quality content such as video tutorials, which have global appeal.

Q: Why should ISE 2025 attendees visit your booth?

A: Magewell continues to be at the forefront of providing easy-to-use solutions that make new technologies and trends practical and affordable. AV-over-IP and software-based solutions have now become mainstream in the professional AV market, but systems integrators and AV/IT managers are constantly striving to make such technologies easier for their end users, more efficient and more effective.

We have more new products and partnerships that I can’t talk about yet but that we’ll be showing or previewing at ISE 2025, so be sure to visit the booth to find out about them!
