Macnica Technology to Introduce MPA1000 AV over IP Module at InfoComm 2019

SOLANO BEACH, CALIFORNIA, May 21, 2019 — Macnica Technology, a leader in live video over IP transport technologies, will showcase its new MPA1000 AV over IP Module at Booth 474 during InfoComm 2019 in Orlando (June 12-14, Orange County Convention Center). The MPA1000 is a full-stack module that brings low-latency IP video transport to OEM manufacturers and an array of professional AV products.

Macnica is a creator of hardware and software APIs that implement SMPTE ST 2110, a widely followed open standard for professional broadcast and AV that fosters interoperability, scalability and flexibility in IP applications. For Macnica, the release of the MPA1000 module represents continued product development moving solidly to open standards. For AV systems integrators, that means added value and flexibility in their installations.

Macnica’s MPA1000 transports compressed UHD 60P 4:4:4 video, audio and control over a standard 1GbE connection. The module is field-configurable to transmit or receive signals; once connected to the network, the media traffic is discoverable through the included NMOS IS-04/05 services – an open standard for publishing and discovery of content streams.

“The development of the MPA1000 is significant in that it opens the door to new ProAV system solution opportunities and capabilities,” said Andrew Starks, Director of Product Management at Macnica. “It’s one of the earliest 1GbE products to add 4K60 4:4:4 video using open standards.”

The MPA1000’s innovation is enhanced through simple configuration and control – a core design principle of the module. The module’s integrated web server hosts a RESTful API along with a web application that is fully customizable for each user. Macnica additionally offers an MPA1000 Development Kit for testing and development purposes, with design files available on request.

Starting with SMPTE ST 2110 and NMOS-04/05, the standard for high-performance AV over IP in broadcast, Macnica has created an extended profile that includes support for TICO-XS compression and other Pro AV capabilities. The company will continue its work with standards organizations and other manufacturers, ensuring that the MPA1000 becomes a part of a future multi-vendor, interoperable AV over IP ecosystem.

“Our commitment is to open standards, which provide decreased system deployment cost and complexity, and the MPA1000 module is based on those efforts,” continued Starks. “It’s inexpensive, yet brings extremely high-end video quality down to a 1GbE standard. Attendees will be able to see this module working in a video wall digital signage application at our booth during InfoComm.”

In addition to the MPA1000, the company will showcase its expanding array of VIPA modular solutions, which offer video transport interface functionality for video processing of ST 2110 streams, as well as growing image processing and display product lines from Macnica’s distribution business unit.
