Lumio Feature Enhancements Are Simplifying Teaching and Improving Learning Experiences
CALGARY, AB – February 3, 2025 – Over the past year, Lumio by SMART Technologies, a web-based instructional platform that makes learning fun and engaging on student devices, rolled out a series of supportive updates designed to make lesson planning, student engagement, and classroom management easy for educators and meaningful for students.
Empowering teachers to focus on creating impactful learning experiences for their students, the Lumio feature improvements are intuitive and easy to use. From interactive audio tools to streamlined lesson management and seamless integrations, they make lessons more engaging and effective for teachers and students. The latest Lumio feature enhancements include:
- Add and Attach Audio: Teachers and students can easily add up to five minutes of audio to any lesson page, text, shape or image. This feature fosters creativity and inclusion, benefiting emerging readers, language learners, and all students by offering a flexible way to share ideas.
- Exportable Activity Data: Teachers can export results for activities like Super Sort, Rank Order, and Match ‘Em Up! into a CSV file, to gain valuable insights into student progress.
- Embedded Content Integration: Educators can easily embed engaging resources from platforms like ClickView, Flat for Education and private YouTube videos directly into their Lumio lessons.
- Improved Equation Editor: Additional support for math instruction allows teachers to edit equations during delivery mode and students can add equations in individual handouts or group workspaces.
- Class Code Enhancements: Teachers can seamlessly connect student devices with the ability to toggle the always-on or always-off Class Code feature from the class management section.
- New Assign Button: Streamlined lesson management allows teachers to start, assign or edit lessons from a single location, optimizing workflow.
- Beta Channel with AI Assist: Teachers can join the Lumio Beta channel to explore new, in-development features and share valuable feedback to shape their functionality. Currently, in beta, teachers can try out AI Assist before it moves to the Spark plan. This innovative tool saves teachers time by using AI to generate standards-aligned questions and answers for quiz-based activities, including Response, Monster Quiz, Team Quiz, Game Show, and Speedup. AI Assist can create questions and answers tailored to specific subjects and grade levels based on your written prompts.
“Designed with both the teacher and student in mind, Lumio’s feature enhancements further our commitment to supporting teachers in their goal to inspire and engage students,” says Dan McMahon, Vice President of Software at SMART Technologies. “By focusing on simplicity and accessibility, we can ensure teachers have the tools they need to build dynamic and inclusive classrooms and create personalized curriculums that lead to desired student outcomes.”
Additionally, Lumio made notable updates to its Spark plan. Offering advanced capabilities for schools, districts, and other organizations, the Spark plan now includes:
- Co-Editing: Educators can collaborate in real-time within Shared Libraries, promoting resource sharing and reducing lesson prep time.
- LMS Integrations with Canvas and Schoology: Single sign-on, embedded Lumio experiences, and the ability to assign files directly to students streamline educators’ and students’ workflows.
