KV2 Audio has expanded its VHD Series with the introduction of the VHD7000D Subwoofer Amplifier, a high-performance solution engineered to drive all KV2 VHD, ES and SL subwoofers as well as third-party systems. Designed for applications ranging from touring productions to fixed installations, the VHD7000D provides up to 7kW of short-term power and peak output of 14kW while maintaining efficient energy consumption from a 16A circuit.

The amplifier’s power management system delivers output that exceeds the capacity of the mains supply, offering headroom and performance beyond comparable amplifiers, according to the company. It also introduces an integrated RMS limiter that provides long-term thermal protection by analyzing average power and temperature behavior over time. This ensures consistent SPL output and reduced thermal compression during extended operation, maintaining clarity and dynamic range even at high levels.

A tunable notch filter is included for resonance suppression, minimizing cone excursion that can cause distortion and reduce speaker longevity. The result is cleaner low-frequency reproduction with improved definition and balance across the bass spectrum. Additionally, the peak limiter protects loudspeakers from mechanical damage caused by excessive signal peaks, keeping cones within safe excursion limits and preventing smaller enclosures from being overloaded.

Built with a high-power switching mode power supply, the VHD7000D also incorporates overdrive protection and supports remote configuration via KV2’s Control and Diagnostics Tool. These systems provide engineers with real-time control and monitoring options to optimize performance in both live and installed environments.
