Kramer Introduces HDMI Distribution Amps for Large Networks

The new HDMI distribution amplifiers for Kramer include the VM-28HDMI 2 input 1:8 HDMI distribution amplifier and the VM-216HDMI 2 input 1:16 HDMI distribution amplifier for use in large networks.

The VM-28HDMI and VM-216HDMI were originally designed directly for a customer requirement.  Kramer was approached with the need to distribute high quality HDMI signals in a high end consumer retail application.  In a consumer retail environment where the goal is to sell today’s high quality and high resolution flat panel and rear projection televisions, putting the best possible image on each unit to show off its maximum capabilities is an essential requirement.  The best medium to place a high definition image on a modern television is via HDMI.  The VM-28HDMI allows the distribution of one of two HDMI input sources to 8 destinations and the VM-216HDMI allows distribution of one of two HDMI input sources to 16 destinations.

The VM-28HDMI and VM-216HDMI are both HDCP compliant and support up to 1.65Gbps bandwidth for compatibility with all HDTV standards including 1080p/60 signals.  Both models also feature enhanced EDID (Extended Display Identification Data) operation.  Each unit can read a separate EDID in non-volatile memory or provide the default EDID of 720p if one is not stored.  This allows a convenient and reliable connection to the source.

The VM-28HDMI and VM-216HDMI are housed in rugged 19” 1U standard rack mount enclosures and include 100-264 VAC universal switching power supplies

The VM-28HDMI and VM-216HDMI carry list prices of $995 and $1495 respectively and are currently available.
