Karmine Corp claimed the Rocket League title at the 2025 Esports World Cup (EWC) with a 4-1 victory over Geekay Esports in the grand final, taking home $400,000 of the tournament’s $1 million prize pool.
The victory marks Karmine Corp’s second major win of 2025, following their triumph at the Birmingham Major. The team bounced back from a recent loss to Twisted Minds at the RLCS Raleigh Major, establishing themselves as a frontrunner heading into the RLCS World Championship later this year.
Karmine Corp raced to a 3-0 lead in the best-of-seven final without conceding a single goal. Geekay Esports briefly fought back with a win in Game 4, but Karmine Corp closed out the series on their next match point opportunity.
Geekay reached the final after a dramatic semifinal against Team Vitality that stretched to seven games and went into overtime. Karmine Corp advanced by defeating Team Falcons, another top contender in the Rocket League Championship Series (RLCS).
“I’m feeling great, it was a good match, we played really well, and I’m proud of my team,” said Axel “Vatira” Touret after the win. “ … It means a lot [to win], they will have more money now, so that’s a good point. I’m really happy to be in Karmine Corp.”
Samy “dralii” Hajji was named the Sony MVP for his standout performance throughout the tournament. The win marked his third Rocket League major title and his second consecutive EWC championship, following his 2024 victory with Team BDS. “I always play really well in Saudi Arabia, I think it’s the hospitality, and even the tournaments,” Hajji said. “I love them, they are incredible.”
The victory earned Karmine Corp 1,000 Club Championship points, moving the team up 34 spots into a tie for 11th place in the standings. Team Falcons finished third after defeating Team Vitality in the decider, earning 500 points to extend their overall lead in the season rankings.
