InfoComm 2012 was an AMAZING tradeshow for the Women in AV!! It was truly awe-inspiring to see the welcoming our industry gave to our group and the encouragement that surrounds every one of us women who chose to make the AV industry our home. Our luncheon sold out months in advance and the feedback about the mentoring panel was fantastic, thank you again! Our reception had almost 80 attendees and we gave out our first Women in AV Mentoring Award to the very deserving Alexis LaBroi of AVI-SPL. We had a Tweet-up at the Drunk Unkles concert and rAVe [Publications] gave out great prizes and t-shirts! And, I wasn’t there to hear it, but, even Sinbad called out WAVE during his comedy show. Not too bad for our first year attending as a group!!
Being that our industry is one to continue raising the bar, our WAVE Planning Board went back and thought, what can we do at InfoComm 2013 to make it even better!?! Because that is what the Women in AV group is all about, right! Encouraging, supporting, and bringing opportunities for women in our industry to rise above where we are and to be inspired to reach for things we may have felt were out of our reach professionally.
That year we thought we should have a theme, one that resonates with women and focuses on what want to achieve together over the coming year. Think, Talk, Act Like a Leader felt like the perfect message we want to sending both ourselves and other women in the industry. We want everything we do to come from the place of “how am I encouraging myself and others to take on more leadership roles and develop our skills for taking that next step”.
We’ll be doing all the same things we did last year and we also have a few fantastic initiatives we are excited to be launching ATInfoComm13! So, join us again and stay tuned to my blog and www.womeninav.com for another fantastic year of advancing women in AV!!
