Installation Issues for Converged AV/IT Systems
Presented by Tom Kehr of AVIXA at the 2019 Almo Professional AV E4 Experience
The success of a converged AV/IT system is dependent on a properly installed and tested structured cabling system. As more and more audiovisual integrators are offering IT infrastructure installation to their clients, it is mandatory that they have an understanding of the hardware and test procedures required. This seminar explores the hardware and installation equipment necessary to install and terminate UTP cabling, including punch blocks on patchbays and wallplates, and RJ-45 connectors on cabling. Structured cable installation issues such as cable pathways, signal interference, and distance limitations are covered. Finally, test parameters and equipment including cabling verification testing and network certification testing are demonstrated.
