InfoComm Announces ANSI/ISO Accreditation for CTS

InfoComm announced the organization will seek accreditation from ANSI/ISO for InfoComm’s Certified Technology Specialist certifications. InfoComm Executive Director Randal A. Lemke tells rAVe that other organizations, such as Microsoft and Cisco, are also working with ANSI/ISO for their certification programs.

“In general, we’re trying to align our programs with world class organizations,” Lemke told rAVe. “As an international organization, we want our members to have that recognition anywhere in the world. ISO does that, and it helps establish members’ credentials among other industries.”

Accreditation by ANSI will signify that InfoComm’s procedures meet ANSI’s essential requirements for openness, balance, consensus and due process in accordance with the ISO 17024 standard.

InfoComm will be making some administrative and programmatic changes in the upcoming months to ensure compliance with ANSI standards. One of the most significant changes is creating an independent committee designed to solely oversee certification programs to be led by InfoComm Past President Spencer Bullins, CTS, of AMX.

All CTS holders will be receiving a letter informing them of changes to the CTS program and assuring them that current CTS holders’ certification will maintain their certification under the new ANSI program.

Lemke says the work toward this project began in 2005.
