InfoComm 2012

Well, I promised you all (ok, mostly Gary and Sara and the rest of the rAVe crew) that I would blog live from the show. But here it is nearly 2pm and I am just sitting down to write in the rAVe booth.

So, while I will be touring the show later on, here are my first impressions of this year’s show:

1. Las Vegas is still too hot for human habitation. Infocomm is one of the few trade shows I come to here where I am an attendee rather than crew, and all I can think is “there but for the grace of God go I.”

2. To paraphrase Twain, “the rumors of the show’s demise are greatly exaggerated. ” although both Gary and I remarked that the traffic seemed light early this morning, it has picked up, and the floor is filled. There are a number of new exhibitors raising a lot of excitement, and I am going to try to hit a few of them later on this afternoon. Stay tuned.

3. This morning, I had the great privilege of accepting the Pioneer of AV award on behalf of our friend Everett Hall, who passed away a few years ago. Afterward, Gary and I were interviewed about Ev. You will see those interviews soon. In the meantime, I am looking for the girl who got the picture of Gary having makeup applied so I can post it here for you.

Stay tuned – more to come
JRR
