IAdea to Launch Armoroid Rugged Digital Signage Line

iadea-logoIrvine, California and Taipei, Taiwan, January 12th, 2016 – IAdea, industry leader for reliable digital signage platforms, will be launching its Armoroid™ product line at the upcoming Integrated Systems Show in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.

Digital signage installations are plagued by the use of consumer-grade hardware, resulting in field failures that severely damage brand image. This is exacerbated by the recent proliferation of low-cost Android TV sticks which provides a flexible software framework but often fails in a commercial environment. Armoroid is IAdea’s line of open, multi-format, and reliable digital signage playback solutions. IAdea redesigns the Android frame work and combines it with special-purpose hardware to provide a platform that features both reliability and flexibility. All Armoroid devices are compatible with the Android SDK for native coding, as well as HTML5 and SMIL for rapid service deployment.

The IAdea Armoroid product line is comprised of a wide range of form factors to serve every digital signage need:

5-inch Electronic Fact Tag (XDO-0548): touch-enabled shelf-edge device for interactive product promotion. Great for offering dynamic and complex service package pricing such as mobile phone service plans. Metal open frame for optimal thermal performance and ease of installation

10-inch Conference Room Door Sign (XDS-1078): touch-enabled 10-inch all-in-one display with programmable LED light bars and Power-over-Ethernet. It is the first HDCP-certified Android-compatible device which enables showing live TV feeds with tickers and overlay graphics. This is the ideal device for sports bars, restaurants, and general point-ofwait to help improve service level and reduce perceived wait time. A reduced version (XMP- 6250) is available without the video-in.

4K Media Player, Anti-vibration and Wide Temperature Range (XMP-7300): the first HDMI 2.0- certified media player with anti-vibration and wide thermal range support. It has won projects in the transportation sector and proven to be extremely reliable. It natively supports 4K video playback of H.265/HEVC video up to 4,096-by-2,160 resolution at 60 frame-per-second.

After using the Armoroid 4K player, Jim Nista, CEO of Insteo, a leading digital signage content provider, describes the device: “I was impressed with the IAdea XMP-7300’s ability to effortlessly display a rich, smooth presentation at 60 fps while still having an open source platform which allows for a transparent HTML5 overlay. […] I assure you the XMP-7300 comes with the same recognizable qualities as all of the other IAdea products and solutions you are familiar with. Quality, reliability and affordability are their core values, but they are equally matched by their sleek design, ease of use and commitment to innovation.”

Jeff Porter, former CEO of Scala, a leading digital signage CMS provider, and founder of Porter Digital Signage, further comments: “Android devices are becoming more powerful and more popular as well as digital signage players. […] These second generation quad core Android players can do a lot. One of my favorites is from IAdea since they support a wide variety of software platforms.”
