Hunter Douglas Rolls Out PowerView Automation Updates for Spring 2025
Hunter Douglas has announced several updates to its PowerView Automation system aimed at improving motor performance, power options and control flexibility for custom integrators and homeowners.
The enhancements include a new permission system in the PowerView app, an upgraded motor for large shades, and expanded compatibility for its internal rechargeable battery (IRB) system.
App Update Adds Granular Access Controls
The PowerView app now allows homeowners to set room-based and time-based restrictions for users with basic access. Previously, basic access users could operate all shades and scenes but couldn’t modify them. With the update, homeowners can restrict access by location or duration, offering more precise control for scenarios like short-term rentals, children’s rooms or temporary guest access.
PowerView XL Motor Supports Larger Shades
Hunter Douglas is introducing the PowerView XL Motor across multiple product lines, including Designer Roller and Screen Shades, Designer Banded Shades and Alustra Woven Textures Roller Shades. The new motor offers double the torque of previous versions and is designed for large-scale window treatments up to 156 inches wide and 180 inches tall.
The company said the motor operates approximately 10 decibels quieter than its predecessor and supports most applications without additional spring assist hardware.
Expanded Battery and Charging Options
The company’s internal rechargeable battery system is now available on additional shade styles, including Duette and Applause Honeycomb Shades and Vignette Modern Roman Shades (Stacking Style). All IRB-equipped shades now use a universal magnetic charging adaptor and can connect to the PowerView Solar Charger to reduce manual charging needs.
“The PowerView updates we’re introducing this Spring are all about purposeful innovation,” said Scott Stephenson, senior director of product, global motorization at Hunter Douglas. “We’ve focused on making life easier for integrators and more seamless for the end user.”
Hunter Douglas says this is the first phase of a larger rollout designed to support custom integrators with more flexible and efficient motorized shading solutions.
