HP has introduced HP Dimension with Google Beam, a three-dimensional video communication platform developed in partnership with Google. Designed for enterprise use, the system uses AI, 3D imaging, and spatial audio to create a virtual conferencing experience aimed at replicating in-person meetings without the need for headsets or wearable devices.

Previously known as Project Starline, the platform combines a 3D light field display, adaptive lighting, six-camera capture, spatial audio, and voice detection AI. HP says the system is intended for small meeting spaces and will support one-on-one 3D communication, traditional 2D video conferencing, and interoperability with Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Webex and Google Meet.

The companies are targeting enterprise organizations with distributed teams. According to HP, user testing showed improved outcomes compared to standard video conferencing, including:

  • A 28% increase in memory recall
  • Up to 39% more nonverbal behavior during meetings
  • At least 14% increase in focus on the meeting partner

HP executives say the technology is intended to reduce the communication gap between remote and in-person participants by improving audio and visual realism.

“HP Dimension with Google Beam bridges the gap between the virtual and physical worlds,” said Helen Sheirbon, senior vice president and president of hybrid systems at HP. “It delivers virtual communication experiences that more closely resemble being in the same room.”

Andrew Nartker, general manager of Google Beam, added: “This makes it feel as though you’re in the same room, even when you’re miles apart.”

New Audio Products for Larger Meeting Spaces
Alongside the Dimension system, HP introduced new audio hardware under the HP Poly brand: the HP Poly Studio A2 Audio Bridge and Table Microphone. Designed to support audio needs in rooms of various sizes, the system integrates with Poly Studio video systems and uses a single Ethernet connection for simplified deployment.

The Poly Studio A2 Table Microphone includes daisy-chain scalability for up to eight microphones and features a magnetic mount for cable management. The microphones connect to the Studio A2 Audio Bridge, which supports up to 32 synchronized input channels and includes HP’s NoiseBlockAI processing for reducing background noise during meetings.

Both products are designed to offer flexibility in room configurations without the complexity of traditional professional AV systems.
