Italian digital artist Quayola will deliver a Creative Keynote at ISE 2025 on Feb. 5 at 3:30 p.m., offering insights into his projects, including the “Arborescent” projection mapping on Casa Batlló, which will be presented on Feb. 1 and 2 as part of the event’s opening in Barcelona.

Quayola is known for merging technology and art. He will also showcase his artwork “Promenade” on Feb. 4 at 6:30 p.m. on the Fira de Barcelona Gran Via’s South Access Welcome Screen, providing a unique visual experience for ISE attendees and Barcelona residents.

“In Arborescent, I aimed to digitally reconstruct tree species, studying their growth systems and responses to artificial stimuli,” Quayola explained. “Casa Batlló’s façade serves as the canvas for simulations that generate botanical geometries, using the architectural elements as anchors.”

ISE has partnered with Casa Batlló to present this projection mapping, continuing a tradition of featuring renowned artists, following works by Refik Anadol and Sofia Crespo. Quayola’s project blends artistic vision and AV technology, creating an immersive experience inspired by Gaudí’s architecture.

Quayola’s keynote will delve into his creative process, including his explorations in sculptures, robotics, and his techniques for capturing natural phenomena to inspire digital creations. “For me, the process is as significant as the final piece,” Quayola said. “I aim to illustrate the seamless transition between the physical and digital realms.”

The Casa Batlló projection and the Promenade installation highlight how AV technology pushes creative boundaries. Quayola’s work has been exhibited at prestigious institutions, including the V&A Museum, the National Art Center in Tokyo, and the Palais de Tokyo in Paris, and he received the Golden Nica at Ars Electronica in 2013.
