GLP Begins Shipping Segmented E-Frost Filter for Creos Fixture
GLP has begun shipping its new E-Frost filter for the Creos LED hybrid fixture, expanding the creative capabilities of the platform with segmented, electronically controlled frost technology.
The E-Frost filter, which officially launched at LDI in Las Vegas, is now available through GLP’s global distribution network. Designed specifically for the Creos, the accessory uses Smart Glass technology divided into three independently controllable segments, allowing lighting designers to adjust beam diffusion and the visual appearance of the front lens in backlight applications.
Each segment aligns with the fixture’s horizontal LED arrays and can switch within milliseconds from fully transparent to fully frosted. In addition to fixed states, transitions can be smoothly blended, enabling dynamic effects such as pulsing, wave patterns or gradual diffusion changes. The segmented design allows beam, wash and atmospheric effects to be combined within a single fixture without mechanical changes or added accessories.
The Creos has positioned itself as a high-output LED hybrid fixture capable of producing a 4-degree beam delivering up to 1.2 megacandelas, as well as a 50-degree wash via motorized zoom. The fixture is commonly used as a washlight or backlight and can function as a beam, flood or effects unit. When arranged in clusters, multiple Creos fixtures visually merge into a continuous LED bar due to consistent pixel pitch and aligned LED rows.
Color performance in the Creos is driven by GLP’s iQ.Gamut algorithm and RGB plus Lime color mixing system, derived from the company’s X5 series. The system supports selectable white points and a correlated color temperature range from 2,500 to 10,000 Kelvin, with tungsten emulation curves designed to replicate the dimming behavior and redshift of halogen sources. The additional lime channel improves efficiency and skin-tone reproduction for camera and theatrical environments.
The E-Frost filter is available in two versions. White Frost provides high-output diffusion suited for large stages and bright wash applications, while Black Frost reduces visible reflections and housing contours, making it suitable for broadcast studios, theaters and premium event environments. Installation is tool-free using four knurled screws, with power and data supplied through GLP’s FX.Port. Control parameters are fully integrated into the Creos DMX profile.
Like the fixture itself, the E-Frost is IP65-rated and built for touring and outdoor use, with an operating temperature range from minus 10 to 45 degrees Celsius. GLP said the accessory is designed to withstand rain, dust and the mechanical demands of live production.
GLP showcased the Creos and E-Frost at LDI 2025 and said orders are now being accepted worldwide through its distribution partners.
