Global Caché and Beecon Form Partnership
Jacksonville, OR, USA – February 3, 2015 – Global Caché, the leading independent manufacturer of HTTP, WiFi, and network enabling connectivity products for the control and automation market, announced today they have entered into a strategic partnership with Beecon, developers of Beecon App, available now on iTunes. The partnership provides a platform for the two companies to closely integrate and optimize their products to co-market and deliver a simple and reliable hardware/software solution. The integrated version of Beecon is currently shipping.
Global Caché’s products connect almost any electrical device to a WiFi and/or IP network so it can be controlled, automated, and maintained by network-based software. The company offers other connectivity products and capabilities, including IR learning and the award-winning Control Tower IR database, available in the cloud.
Beecon is the first home automation app for iBeacon, Apple’s version of the Bluetooth-based beacon platform which allows Bluetooth devices to broadcast and receive information within short distances. It allows users to define multiple regions and trigger actions like dimming the lights or turning on the TV when the user enters or leaves regions. Audio reminders can be created, including iOS calendar events, for any region, simply and easily.
“We’ve been actively expanding the app for a year now,” said Ricardo Menezes, Beecon’s founder and Creative Director. “The initial versions offered little connectivity with Global Caché’s products, but it quickly evolved to empower users with more possibilities. In its current version, the app allows you to control an unlimited number of simultaneous iTach modules and dispatch sequences or single infrared commands based on the user’s proximity to things or places. We were happy to discover that partnering with Global Caché was stress free, and that integration with their hardware was just as simple. The ability to control any infrared product is strategic for us, and their well-documented API and Control Tower IR database really simplified our development. ”
Robin Ford, Global Caché VP of Business Development said, “I’m always amazed at the incredible innovation and creativity being developed around apps, using smartphones and tablets as user interfaces, as well as controllers. Beecon is the latest example and a great illustration of that creativity based on new architectures, open systems, and industry standards. We continue to see the market expand dramatically every day and are so pleased Beecon chose our hardware to connect to.”
