Genetec has launched Cloudrunner Mobile, a new mobile app designed to give law enforcement and security professionals real-time access to vehicle investigation tools while in the field.

The app serves as a companion to Genetec Cloudrunner, the company’s vehicle-centric investigation system that uses automatic license plate recognition and analytics to capture and organize vehicle data. With Cloudrunner Mobile, users can conduct searches, receive alerts and manage hotlists directly from their mobile devices, extending Cloudrunner’s capabilities beyond the control room.

According to Genetec, Cloudrunner gathers vehicle data and applies analytics to help users identify patterns and generate actionable insights. Evidence is stored and managed securely in the cloud, where authorized users can search, filter and correlate information to support investigations. The platform is built on privacy-by-design principles, with encrypted data, access controls and retention policies that allow organizations to maintain ownership and control of their information.

Cloudrunner Mobile allows users to log in securely using biometric authentication. From the app, investigators can search for vehicles using attributes such as make, model, color or license plate number. Searches can also be refined using a geographic radius based on the user’s current location, allowing investigators to focus on nearby cameras or areas of interest.

The app delivers real-time push notifications for hotlist alerts, giving investigators immediate access to critical information while on patrol or responding to incidents. Notifications can be paused when users are off duty, with recent activity stored in the app’s alerts tab for later review.

By extending Cloudrunner’s reach beyond the control room, investigators efficiently advance cases and enhance community safety, all while retaining complete control over their data.”

Captain Craig Kreiling of the Hopkins, Minnesota Police Department, an early adopter of the app, said the mobile alerts improve situational awareness. “The push notifications give us everything we need at a glance – plate number, state, and hotlist category so that we can act faster and stay focused on what matters most,” he said.

Cloudrunner Mobile is available immediately to existing Genetec Cloudrunner customers in the United States, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. The app can be downloaded through the Apple App Store and Google Play.
