FSR’s MiniVU Receives EDspaces Innovation Award

phpGx0PWbAMNew Orleans, LA • November 13, 2015 – FSR, a leading manufacturer of a wide variety of products for the Audio/Video industry with a strong focus on the education market, has announced that its MiniVU collaboration system received a 2015 EDspaces Innovation Award in the Specialties category. The awards, a collaboration between the International Interior Design Association (IIDA) and EDmarket, were announced at the EDspaces tradeshow and conference that was held from October 28-30 in New Orleans, LA.

According to the IIDA, products were evaluated for excellence in product design and practicality in a learning environment. “This year’s winners exemplified cutting-edge innovation at the intersection of design and functionality,” said IIDA Executive Vice President and CEO Cheryl S. Durst, Hon. FIIDA, LEED AP. “These elements are key to elevating educational product design and improving the quality of learning spaces – which in turn improves learning outcomes. These products represent what is next for students everywhere.”

MiniVU, FSR’s newest addition to its HuddleVU collaborative learning line, met the criteria by offering a complete packaged solution that incorporates multi-faceted functionality into elegant form from a compact footprint. MiniVU allows 2-4 users to share and view their laptops, tablets, and smart phone screens on a main display, delivering an ideal environment for small group study areas or a convenient break out space in large, open classrooms. Available in counter or table height, with a standard or custom finish, MiniVU integrates all the technology necessary for quick start up and intuitive switching. Installation is simple with hardware included and no software or programming required.

The competition was judged by respected leaders in both design and education environments, including: Katy Flammia, IIDA, AIA, LEED AP (Lead Interior Architect, NBBJ), Christina Gonano, IIDA, RID (Professor, The Savannah College of Art and Design), and Randy Stauffer (Interim Provost, Woodbury University).

On behalf of the judges, Flammia stated, “This year, movement – whether height adjustment, swiveling, pivoting, or even pedaling – was a key element to many of the products. We also saw manufacturers taking their cues from the changing classroom and different learning styles of students. Many products aided in student collaboration and participation.”

Added Gina Sansivero, FSR’s director of business development, education, “As a first year supporter of EdSpaces, FSR is very honored to be recognized by EdSpaces and the IIDA for our MiniVU collaboration system. The MiniVU combines intuitive collaboration with attractive and durable furniture. This award for innovation highlights FSR’s quality, attention to detail and progressive design and development.
