The Freedman Group, parent company of RØDE, Mackie and other audio brands, has acquired Lectrosonics, a U.S.-based manufacturer of wireless audio systems for film, broadcast and theater.

Founded in 1971, Lectrosonics is headquartered in Rio Rancho, New Mexico. The deal includes the company’s brand, intellectual property, facilities and manufacturing equipment. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Lectrosonics will continue operating from its New Mexico location with its current management team. PwC advised The Freedman Group on the acquisition, while Mediabridge Capital Advisors represented Lectrosonics.

“We are thrilled to welcome Lectrosonics to The Freedman Group family,” said Peter Freedman, founder and owner of The Freedman Group.

Lectrosonics is known for its Digital Hybrid Wireless Technology, for which it received an Academy Award in 2017.

“Joining The Freedman Group represents an exciting new chapter,” said Wes Herron, president of Lectrosonics.

Freedman Group CEO Damien Wilson said the companies share similar values around independent manufacturing and support for creative professionals.

The acquisition expands Freedman’s presence in North America and adds to a portfolio that includes RØDE microphones, Aphex signal processing, SoundField microphones and Event studio monitors.
