Extron Now Shipping USBC Pro Series Cables

Extron USBC Pro SeriesExtron is now shipping its USBC Pro Series USB-C cables. The active hybrid optical-copper cables are USB 3.2 compliant and are compatible with previous USB standards. The cable has a diameter of 0.26 inches (6.5 millimeters) and Extron says it has a bend radius that allows for installation in tight spaces. The cables are available in lengths from 12 feet to 30 feet (3.6 meters to 9.1 meters).

The USBC Pro Series cables use glass multimode optical fiber to transmit bidirectional USB 3.2 data, 4K/30 DisplayPort video and embedded audio signals. The cables support data rates up to 5 Gbps and facilitate power delivery up to 60 watts. The cable circuitry draws minimal power that is received from either the USB host or peripheral device. All other non-bandwidth intensive or low-speed signals are carried on the integrated copper wires, including EDID, HDCP and power.
