Extron Upgrades Education University of Hong Kong’s E-Learning Laboratory
The Education University of Hong Kong needed a new E-Learning and teaching laboratory to promote interactive and flexible learning styles while fostering collaboration and digital literacy. The integrator, BAP, faced numerous challenges in the midst of the COVID pandemic, but working with Extron, they succeeded in creating a fluid and easily configurable design for the lab. The collaboration led to a solution that utilized Extron NAV Pro AV-over-IP, an Extron DTP CrossPoint 108 switcher, and various other Extron AV solutions. Extron claims the Extron NAV allowed for cable consolidation, reducing the overall cable count to one and enabling hassle-free lectern mobility, which was a key goal for the team. Despite project challenges, Extron and BAP say each company provided EdUHK with a forward-looking, cost-effective and user-friendly solution.
“Feedback from user team is hugely positive,” said Finsom Lam, project director. “Teachers enjoy the flexibility to freely move the lectern within the room as it facilitates an active learning environment and the capability to interact with the students. Also, the customized and user friendly TouchLink Pro touch panel offers intuitive system operation which simplifies control for the instructors.”
Education University Hong Kong had its work set out for them with the timing of their project. It was important to the University to build a flexible AV solution but also keep costs in mind. As such, the team was able to use some existing technology and integrate the latest Extron solutions. In the end, the University says it very pleased with their new learning laboratory.
