Extron has announced the launch of the UCS 504, a 4K collaboration switching transmitter and scaling receiver kit designed to support bring-your-own-device (BYOD) and bring-your-own-meeting (BYOM) setups in small to medium-sized meeting rooms.

The UCS 504 combines AV and USB switching with twisted pair signal extension, allowing users to connect USB cameras, microphones and other peripherals to their laptops instead of relying on in-room PCs.

The kit supports up to six USB devices — one at USB 10 Gbps and five at High Speed USB 2.0 — while providing power. It uses a single CATx cable to extend video and USB 2.0 signals up to 330 feet, simplifying installation and reducing clutter.

“The UCS 504 is built for modern meeting workflows,” Extron stated in its release. “It makes it easy to integrate AV sources and USB peripherals for Teams and Zoom, no matter where the AV gear is installed.”

The system includes a transmitter with USB-C and dual HDMI inputs for BYOM laptops and a scaling receiver with an additional HDMI input for a dedicated UC computer. An HDMI output supports resolutions up to 4K/60.

Additional features include auto-switching and control via CEC, RS-232 or IR. The transmitter is compact enough to mount under a table, and the low-profile receiver can be mounted behind a display.
