“System designers and integrators are always looking for ways to streamline the cable infrastructure in installations with a separate control system,” says Casey Hall, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Extron. “By using the Ethernet connection to insert control data into the fiber optic AV signal, the FOX II RS 104 allows a centrally located control processor to communicate with remote devices over the fiber optic infrastructure, eliminating the need for separate wiring.”
RS-232 data from the Ethernet port is inserted onto one or more of the fiber optic outputs, providing remote monitoring and control. Reclocking on the unit’s buffered fiber optic outputs ensures signal integrity and transmits the fiber optic signal at its original power level. The inserter maintains the performance of the optical signal transmission while providing bidirectional control from a control processor, eliminating the need for separate control system wiring to remote devices. Available in multimode and singlemode models, FOX II RS 104 is compatible with FOX II Series transmitters and receivers, as well as the extensive line of Extron FOX Series matrix switchers, distribution amplifiers, and extenders.
