Pontifical Universidad Javeriana, Colombia’s top-ranked university, has completed two new 14-story academic buildings on its Bogotá campus, equipping hundreds of science and engineering classrooms with networked audiovisual systems designed for large-scale instruction.

Bogotá-based AV design and integration firm Stream NG specified and installed a wide range of Extron systems across the Science Building and Engineering Building. The deployment includes WallVault and PoleVault digital classroom systems, DTP Systems transmitters, receivers and switchers, ShareLink Pro presentation systems, audio amplifiers, digital signal processors, speakers, TouchLink Pro touch panels, NBP and eBUS button panels, MediaLink Plus controllers, IP Link Pro xi control processors, Cable Cubby enclosures and HDMI cabling.

According to Stream NG, the AV systems were designed to support a broad mix of instructional spaces while maintaining consistency in user experience and system control.

“Extron control and user interface software is logical and stable, making programming and configuring AV systems straightforward and rapid,” said Harold Camargo, chief executive officer of Stream NG. “Another notable Extron strength is the versatility of its CrossPoint matrix switchers, which integrate equipment control, signal routing, amplification and audio into a single unit.”

System designs in both buildings were tailored to room size and instructional function, while maintaining a standardized infrastructure. All spaces use DTP signal extension technology to support both short and long cable runs required in high-rise academic facilities.

User interaction with the AV systems is handled through a combination of NBP Network Button Panels, MediaLink Plus controllers and TouchLink Pro touch panels, providing consistent control interfaces across classrooms, lecture halls and teaching labs.

To support ongoing operations, the university established a centralized help desk capable of monitoring and managing AV systems remotely. Using GlobalViewer Enterprise, technical staff can oversee system status, perform troubleshooting and provide user assistance across both buildings from a single location.

The installation supports the university’s expanding science and engineering programs while enabling centralized control and long-term system management across its campus infrastructure.
