DoD Extends JITC Certification to Include PESA Video Distribution System (VDS) Product Upgrades

phpAZ4mcQAMHuntsville, Alabama – July 14, 2014 – PESA, a leading designer and manufacturer of professional audio and video distribution solutions, today announced the U.S. Department of Defense has approved upgrades to its Video Distribution System (VDS), which includes several products in its Cheetah large-scale digital router product line. After initially receiving certification in January 2013, the company submitted a number of software and firmware updates for evaluation and testing.

The most significant upgrade is the new series of Vidblox 2K DVI dual link extenders, which transport video resolutions up to 2560×1600@60Hz over coax and/or fiber. “Vidblox 2K provides an inexpensive multi-path solution for distributing ultra high-resolution graphics over long distances,” explained Col. John T. Wright (U.S. Army, Retired), PESA senior vice president, sales and business development. “It’s a significant step forward in functionality, and with JITC certification, now the DoD can install an even wider range of PESA products in a variety of applications.”

PESA was the first company to achieve listing on the Department of Defense Unified Capabilities (UC) Approved Products List (APL) as a VDS, and remains the industry leader for large-scale VDS solutions. It is the only listing of such equipment approved by the DoD to be fielded in DoD networks. The APL is managed by the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA).

The upgraded products received Interoperability Certification (IOC) and Information Assurance (IA) accreditation from DISA’s Joint Interoperability Test Command (JITC), which is responsible for certifying joint and combined interoperability of all DoD information technology and national security systems. With an array of software and hardware-based testing procedures, JITC evaluates technologies that provide warfighters with high-tech advantages in both peacetime and war. JITC certification ensures that a technological device or system meets the full standards to operate in a UC environment.

PESA offers a complete portfolio of secure video switching and distribution solutions that deliver up to 4K resolution. With robust features that support continuity of operations, command and control and emergency preparedness and response, the Cheetah product line has proven to be a solid foundation for many government and federal agencies, such as the U.S. Army, U.S. Air Force, U.S. Navy, and NASA.

“JITC certification is very important because it ensures that DoD officials can rely on our products to deliver high-quality imagery for C4ISR between distinct video chains,” added Wright. “PESA is proud to continue to provide our military and other government agencies with mission-critical products for video and audio distribution.”
