Cuebric Announces New Partnership with Disguise to Improve Virtual Production
Cuebric announced a new partnership with Disguise to improve virtual production via making the creation of fully segmented 2.5D virtual environments easier and more cost-effective than ever before. With Cuebric’s software integrated into the Disguise platform, creatives will now have the power of AI for workflow. They say it allows anyone to tell incredible, immersive stories, regardless of budget.

To create a 2.5D scene, users can add purely generative content or import images from elsewhere into the Cuebric platform. Cuebric then leverages AI rotoscoping and AI inpainting to segment the image into layers so that the scene can be transformed from 2D to 2.5D based on depthmaps of the layers. Once the Cuebric 2.5D scene is imported into Disguise’s Designer software, each individual layer is mapped on an auto-generated mesh, meaning that the individual plates are not limited to flat planes but become 3D shapes. This results in a more realistic parallax effect that works no matter how the camera moves on set.
Using Cuebric and Disguise, users can easily make changes and iterations in the virtual environment during production, allowing for a more dynamic and creative process and avoiding costly reshoots.
