Crestron Upgrades 1 Beyond Cameras With 2.0 Firmware: Adds Multi-Camera Switching, Smart Tracking and AV-over-IP Integration
Crestron Electronics announced a major firmware update for its 1 Beyond intelligent video camera line, introducing new multi-camera switching capabilities and expanded intelligent automation for workplace and learning environments.
The 1 Beyond 2.0 firmware allows intelligent switching for up to five cameras in a single room — a significant upgrade from the previous limit of two. Users can now pair one primary i12 camera with up to four companion i12 or i20 devices, enabling seamless, automated switching in medium-sized collaboration spaces.
Switching between camera views can be triggered automatically using visual cues for i-Series cameras or customized via Crestron Control systems, which support both i-Series and p-Series cameras. A new 1 Beyond multi-cam module also allows integrators to program camera behavior based on inputs like ceiling microphone zones, helping tailor automation to each room’s layout and usage.
Additional features in the 2.0 firmware include:
- Recallable Presenter Tracking Profiles (i20 Cameras): Users can now create and store up to four customized tracking profiles with distinct settings such as home position, blocking zones and presentation zones — ideal for multi-point presentation environments.
- Face Priority Focus (p-Series Cameras): Enhances speaker tracking by prioritizing the most prominent faces in view, designed to work in conjunction with Crestron’s Automate VX solution.
- DM NVX AV-over-IP Integration: USB video from 1 Beyond cameras can now be extended seamlessly into any DM NVX system that supports USB extension — no manual configuration required.
- Home Position Recall (p-Series Cameras): Automatically returns the camera to a designated home position after rebooting or exiting privacy mode, improving platform compatibility for features like Microsoft Teams Rooms’ multiple camera views.
With this firmware update, Crestron is targeting middle-market applications with advanced automation and more flexibility — bringing professional-grade camera intelligence to a wider range of spaces.
