CEDIA’s New White Paper Can Help You Understand and Prepare for Wi-Fi 6

CEDIA white paper wi fi 6

CEDIA has released a new white paper titled “Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax): High Efficiency Wi-Fi.” The white paper dives into the new Wi-Fi 6 standard that has been designed to address some of the most prevalent wireless networking issues and provide high-efficiency Wi-Fi.

Wi-Fi 6 is the latest wireless networking standard — and it’s fundamentally different from all previous standards. In fact, Wi-Fi 6 promises higher data rates, robust connections and simultaneous data reception/transmission between access points and multiple client devices.

According to Walt Zerbe, CEDIA senior director of technology and standards, “It’s hard to overstate the popularity and importance of this topic; it is going to have far-reaching effects for all CEDIA members and their clients. Besides the improved performance and new features of Wi-Fi 6, we have a new sales opportunity with the new naming conventions. The shift from difficult-to-convey names such as 802.11N and 802.11AX to friendlier names such as Wi-Fi 5 and Wi-Fi 6, combined with the new on-device logo approach, will finally stir up demand from customers for network upgrades.”

The publication of the resource follows the recent release of other white papers, including “HDBaseT for 4K & 8K Video,” “AV-Over-IP Systems,” “Quality of Power” and “Integrators Guide to Video: Colorimetry.”

CEDIA members have complimentary access to “Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax): High Efficiency Wi-Fi” ($99 for non-members). For free access to the resource, CEDIA hosted a webinar on the topic “Wi-Fi 6: The Next Generation in Wi-Fi,” which you can watch here.
