Responding to the higher resolution and widescreen transition calls from rAVe and other industry visionaries in the market, Canon U.S.A. introduced the new REALiS SX800 projector. Canon, not known as a leader in projection, might not have a winner with this model, but we think others will take note because they are manufacturing it themselves and it’s using a reflective 3LCD technology.
Featuring a specification claim of 3000 lumens and a contrast ratio of 900:1, the new Canon REALiS SX800 provides an alternative for XGA (1024 x 768) users seeking to upgrade to a higher resolution SXGA+ (1400 x 1050) projector – making native XGA, SXGA, SXGA+ and even 720p projection possible.
Priced at $3000, the reflective LCD REALiS SX800 weighs 11 pounds, includes 2:3 pull-down, lens shift and digital keystone correction and an interesting feature that they call Auto Flesh Tone that supposedly gives flesh tones a “more realistic” look.
