BrightSign Players Certified for Extended Thermal Range

BrightSign LLC, the global market leader in digital signage media players, today announced that its Series 4 players are certified for use in temperatures as low as -20 Celsius. At launch, BrightSign’s Series 4 players were rated for use in temperatures up to 70 C – a feat achieved via BrightSign’s patented, heat-dissipating, anodized aluminum case design. This recent certification for low-temperature use establishes a 90-degree Celsius extended thermal operational range for BrightSign’s players, making them ideal for use in virtually any extreme-temperature setting.

“Operating at high temperatures is a common requirement for our players because they’re frequently installed in confined spaces with limited ventilation,” said BrightSign CEO Jeff Hastings. “But with rapidly expanding use-cases, we see a growing demand for players rated for low-temperature operation. Certifying our players for use at -20 C makes them a perfect choice for any project where the hardware will be exposed to extreme cold.”

The rapid rise of digital signage used in outdoor applications is placing a renewed emphasis on players’ ability to function in all temperature extremes. Outdoor kiosks, automobile mounts and other outdoor installations are relatively unprotected from the elements and expose the associated hardware to below-freezing temperatures on a daily basis in colder climates.

To assure reliable operation in extreme weather conditions, BrightSign’s Series 4 HD, XD and XT media players are designed to operate in ambient temperatures between -20°C and 70°C at 90% maximum relative humidity, non-condensing.
