Bowers & Wilkins Partners With Formovie for Laser Projector and Sound System Integration Launch

Bowers Wilkins partnership with FormovieBowers & Wilkins has announced a partnership with Chinese cinema-pro laser projection brand Formovie to create an ultra-short throw consumer laser projector with an integrated Bowers & Wilkins sound system. Launched in December (initially only in mainland China), the partnership believes the new TriColor laser projector Formovie T1 will transform the projector market. It offers sound quality normally reserved for an external system or sound bar but is integrated into the compact enclosure of a cinema-pro quality, ultra-short-throw laser projector.

The 4K UHD projector uses ALPD RGB+ laser display technology and TI DLP imaging for an output of 2800 ANSI lumens and a contrast ratio of 3000:1. Formovie laser projectors claim to be the first ultra-short throw models to receive THX certification as well as Dolby Vision approval. The projector also offers HDR10 and HDR10+ compatibility plus Dolby Atmos and DTS HD decoding in a compact body with an ultra-short throw ratio of 0.23:1.

The Bowers & Wilkins stereo sound system features two forward-firing 70-millimeter glass-fibre LF/MF drivers and two 20-millimeter titanium tweeters. They are all mounted in their own rigid ABS+GF enclosures located at the outer edges of the front baffle.
