Bowers & Wilkins Releases CDA-16 Amplifier

bowersBowers & Wilkins just announced the CDA-16; a 16-channel/eight-stereo-zones amplifier in a 1U enclosure that allows you to bridge its Class D stereo amplifier channels to create more mono outputs. The CDA-16 outputs 50 watts to each of its 16 channels in to 8-ohm loads, rising to 100W with 4-ohm speakers. Select the bridging function and you can achieve 200W into 8 ohms. Connecting sources is via eight pairs of RCA phono inputs for line-level analog audio with the option of using one set of inputs as what they are terming as a ‘global’ connection that shares the same signal across all outputs.

CDA-16 features:

  • 16 x 100W into 4 ohms giving eight stereo zones, or 8 x 200W in 8 ohms in bridged mode.
  • Eight RCA analog inputs for stereo sources per zone, plus the option of a global source for all zones.
  • Three power mode options for control — on, auto-source detect and 12v trigger.
  • Ultra-compact 1U rack-mount design.

The CDA-16 sells for $2,000.
