Heilbronn, Germany, August 5, 2016 – The Federal Assembly is the constitutional body of the Federal Republic of Germany. Located in Berlin, it enables the federal states to play a part in legislation, administration, and political business within the European Union. In an effort to modernize the Federal Assembly’s audio technology, longstanding beyerdynamic partner Fleischbauer was commissioned to install microphones that provided optimum speech intelligibility, while being inconspicuous and space-saving. After a series of tests and demonstrations, it was determined that beyerdynamic’s Revoluto vertical array microphone technology was the best solution.

Preserving space without sacrificing sound quality

The Federal Assembly is headquartered in the former Prussian Manor House. The historic hall was nearly destroyed during the WWII, but was thoroughly renovated between 1997 and 2000 during the country’s reconstruction. With a high glass roof and plentiful daylight, the hall radiates a tranquil and modern working atmosphere.

To ensure orderly and intelligible sound within the historic facility, 71 beyerdynamic Classis RM 31 Q microphones are being used to enable discussions during the Federal Assembly’s sessions. The horizontal polar pattern of the microphones provides a much larger area for speech reception in comparison to conventional gooseneck microphones. The speaker does not have to adhere to one direction while speaking, and can move freely while still being heard. Two people can also share a single microphone, which helped save on cost and space during the installation.

Freedom of movement through patented technology

These numerous benefits are made possible through beyerdynamic’s patented Revoluto technology, which is comprised of several microphone capsules lined in a row to create a vertical array. The Classis RM 31 Q is an installed microphone which is ideal for use on round tables, podiums, lecterns, and for video conferencing. The Revoluto technology with integrated microphone capsules provide a corridor characteristic which ensures a wide range of pristine voice quality. Through this extended range, two speakers can move freely, stand up, sit down, move his or her head, and even move towards or away from the microphone. The Classis RM 31 Q can be used with beyerdynamic Quinta and Orbis microphone units.
