BenQ Launches New Cinema 4K Projector in CinePrime HT5550

BenQ today announced the new CinePrime HT5550, a native 4K DLP projector aimed at dedicated home theaters and living rooms, with HDR-PRO and CinematicColor DCI-P3 technologies for 100% coverage of Digital Cinema Initiatives (DCI)’s DCI-P3 wide color gamut standard.

The HT5550 CinePrime projector is native 3840×2160 resolution and 8.3 million distinct pixels for each frame. Utilizing a 4K-optimized optical system with six structured groups of all-glass lens elements for light transmission, the HT5550 uses their CinematicColor technology that they say meets 100% of Rec. 709, backed by individual factory color calibration reports, ensuring Delta E≤3 color accuracy. In addition, BenQ’s proprietary HDR-PRO technology brings HDR capabilities to projection by supporting both HDR10 and HLG formats.

BenQ’s proprietary CinemaMaster Video+ technology claims to bring commercial quality digital cinema to the home with motion-adaptive 4K pixel enhancement. Using as 1.6X zoom and 2D horizontal and vertical lens shift, it will begin shipping on April 16, 2019 and retails for $2,499. Here all the specs.
