Behind the Booth at InfoComm 2025: An Interview With Daktronics’ Jim Vasgaard
THIS IS A PROMOTED POST

Behind the Booth at InfoComm 2025 gives you a front-row seat to the people and products shaping the show floor. In this sponsored series, we sit down with top executives from InfoComm exhibitors to find out what they’re showcasing, which trends they’re watching and how they’re pushing the ProAV industry forward. This interview features Daktronics‘ Jim Vasgaard.
Q: Why is Daktronics exhibiting at InfoComm 2025, and what are you most excited to showcase this year?
A: For Daktronics, it’s a no brainer since InfoComm is looked upon as the largest and most comprehensive audiovisual tradeshow in North America. The showrunners bring together a fantastic amount of manufacturers, integrators, dealers, and end-users from around the world to share their latest technologies, products, and services. We embrace the opportunity to showcase our own dvLED products and services to the InfoComm attendees and to reinforce our commitment to the AV industry and are continuing to develop products for this indoor marketplace.
Daktronics will be exhibiting our dvLED technology at our booth 4233 during InfoComm 2025 and we look forward to meeting with our ProAV partners to share some of the latest COB technology we’ve been developing for several years, as well as some of our emerging microLED video technologies that are still in research and development but which we are extremely excited about!
Q: What trends do you expect to see dominating the show floor, and how is your company positioned to lead or respond to them?
A: The indoor market is continually exploring display systems which are brighter, offer better contrast, eliminate bezels, provide years of service support, and offer lower lifetime operating costs. They also desire a product which can be handled during service and installation without damage. LED technology is evolving from Surface Mount Diodes to Chip-On-Board LEDs and other LED technologies such as micro-LED, to provide robust, lower power display systems with greater reliability. We expect to see quite a few emerging technologies on display at InfoComm 2025.
While it is not yet cost-competitive with OLED or LCD for consumer devices or miniLED COB for LED display systems, ongoing investments from big-name companies are rapidly advancing in the field. If manufacturing challenges are overcome, high yield rate and mass-transfer are more realized, MicroLED will become the dominant display technology, offering superior color accuracy and image quality across a wide range of devices.
We are very excited about recent breakthroughs and progress we have made in our journey developing and manufacturing Daktronics’ Active Matrix MicroLED and look forward to accelerated momentum in bringing true MicroLED solutions to the large-scale LED display market in the years to come.

Daktronics COB series uses the latest advancements in LED technology through flip-chip, wire-bond free COB (chip on board) LEDs. Distinguished by its proprietary deep-black surface encapsulant that also serves as a protective barrier to reduce chances of contact damage during installation, operation or maintenance, these displays dramatically elevate contrast, resulting in richer and bolder imagery.
Q: Which new products, solutions or updates are you featuring — and how do they address current needs in the AV industry?
A: We are expanding our COB (chip-on-board) product line pixel pitch offerings and unveiling that at InfoComm 2025. Come by and view our complete line of COB. We are also featuring the next expansion of our dvLED products to gather market feedback. We’re committed to the indoor market, and we’re growing our product lines to fit the AV industry and their needs. In Orlando, we’re showing an expansion of our COB product line and will be unveiling our 0.7 and 0.4-millimeter MicroLED product, which is still in development. We want to demonstrate our on-going expansion of all indoor direct-view LED (dvLED) products and look forward to the AV industry’s feedback.
Those product lines include the COB product that was previously introduced at InfoComm but now includes a 2.5-millimeter pixel spacing, one of the first in the industry. Another product on display at the event includes Daktronics bendable module to fit the curves and shapes of many different architectural needs.
Continuing to enhance the experience for the AV market and installation teams, Daktronics Speed Frame mounting solution will be showcased as well. This advancement allows for quicker installation of dvLED displays while minimizing downtime for end users.
Finally, showcasing advancements in MicroLED technology illustrates Daktronics’ keeping an eye on the potential for emerging technologies.
Q: How is your company supporting integrators and end users in navigating today’s biggest AV challenges — not just at InfoComm, but year-round?
A: Whether it be customers or Pro AV Integrators, buyers are looking for dynamic display systems with greater reliability, parts and service support beyond 5 years and a great looking display throughout its life. The litmus test is showing how will this display look and perform 6-8 years from now? Is it easy to maintain and can everyone count on their supplier to be there for support in the future? We are committed to offering our partners competitive pricing, fantastic training and easy to install and reliable products they can stand behind.
Q: Why should InfoComm 2025 attendees make a point to stop by your booth?
A: We pride ourselves in offering product solutions for a very diverse set of applications, both indoors and out. One of Daktronics’ objectives is to provide more solutions for more customers to more applications. Whether it’s a hometown high school scoreboard to major league video systems, roadside LED signs to iconic digital signage in Vegas, Times Square, Piccadilly Circus and around the world, there’s a good chance you see our products every day. What makes these customers choose, and keep choosing Daktronics? We offer the industry’s broadest range of products, the deepest level of experience, highest level of performance, and unmatched customer service. Once you experience Daktronics, we feel the difference is clear.
Q: Anything else you’d like to share ahead of the show?
A: We’re a US-based LED display systems manufacturer with primary manufacturing plant facilities located in Brookings, SD, Sioux Falls, SD & Redwood Falls, MN. We offer display systems that create unforgettable viewing experiences through our extremely reliable systems with pristine image quality and high-end appearance. This is due to our product testing. With a purpose-driven design, we vigorously test components to ensure the correct pieces and parts are in place for dvLED/Chip-on-board applications to provide the best experience for audiences. In addition, we want and strive to keep customers for life, so our service and support team will always be there if you need them.
