Barco Claims to Ship World’s First 3Gbps Production Switcher
Yesterday, Barco launched the FSN Series multi-format video production switcher as what they call a switcher for live events, small broadcast installations, corporate and industrial installations and houses of worship. Barco says the FSN switcher seamlessly integrates SD-SDI, HD-SDI, and 3Gbps along with VGA and DVI computer resolutions all on one package. But, the feature that has everyone wondering is that it’s specified at up to 3Gbps — which would technically switch 1080p natively without compression or conversion.
