AVPhenom Announces Press Release Challenge!

press-release-graphicReady for some summer fun???  If you have read some of my past blogs like Promises, Promises or Press Relief Hyperbole, you may know how I feel about some of the press releases we see in the AV Industry.

I’m not sure why there is sometimes such a large disconnect between what manufacturers promote and what integrators actually care about and need to know.  Maybe it’s the Old School method of “Selling the Sizzle and not the Steak” that has integrators asking “Where’s the Beef?”

I agree that an engineering spec sheet is an equally poor press release, but isn’t there a good in-between solution?  I think that there is!

So for everyone who wants me to put my money where my mouth is, here is your chance to put me on the spot!

I need your help though!

Here is your part.  Comment on this article or tweet me @AVPhenom with a link to a press release that you think needs some help.  It may be poorly written, it may need more information, or it may need some flair.  Whatever the ailment, I don’t care!

Each week on Friday I will publish the AVPhenom re-write of one of those Press Releases, with a link to the original, and you can then tell me how I did.

I will take what I believe to be the release that needs the most help, or has the most unrealized potential.

Manufacturers can play too!  If you have a product with a press release that you are about to put out there, and you want to see how the AVPhenom would do it, send it my way!  You will get extra points for Courage, (a trait I admire), and you will be a shoe in for the week’s rewrite.

This could be a lot of fun if we get some participation. Share with your friends and other AV Tweeps.
