AV Power Up! – Episode 45: An Outstanding Show With CEO at CEDIA Vin Bruno (A Special)

AVPowerUp_750x400Welcome to the show and join the Crew: Corey CB Moss, Johnny (Stuff n’ Things) Mota, Katye McGregor Bennett and late to the party guest Crew member Mike Shinn as they welcome their guest:

vin-brunoVincent Bruno – CEO at CEDIA

On this special podcast episode that’s hosted by Katye the Crew talks with Vin about numerous topics  beginning with Integrated Systems Europe (ISE) 2016 as well as discussion of next year’s show. Katye asks some very good questions (as she had attended the show) which Vin gives great detail to concerning the residential as well as the commercial market.

Vin tells us about joining CEDIA as their CEO and what the organization brings to the AV world. He gives us his views about the ways to refer to this side of the AV business – the technology as well as the people who work within it. Johnny engages in this discussion with Vin talking about the technology driven home as well as how homeowners, architects and builders find the integrator to do the work. Vin also discusses relationships he is building with certain professional trade organizations, as well as an already built relationship with Coldwell Banker and its positive effect on the smart home market. An excellent discussion which you must hear.

We next talked about CEDIA education and all of the developments taking place there. Mike Shinn drops in later on in the podcast (he had a little space-time continuum issue) and talked about the NSCA Ignite program. Mike went a bit robo on us a couple of times as we believe that he brought some of that great WiFi with him from the hotel he stayed in at the Business Leadership Conference. Mike, Corey and Vin do engage in discussion about recruiting young talent into the industry as well as what the students know about the AV industry (if anything). Vin makes some really good points in terms of what a “career” in the industry actually looks like for recruiting these young people. We discuss the younger generation and views on technology and security issues as well. We also talk about the technology pros in the AV industry and how we should really refer to them. Another great discussion.

(Note: At one point where Mike dropped he was mentioning Rob Simopoulos of Advance Technologies in Maine who has an internship program that transitions to apprenticeship which then transitions to a long-term training schedule. We apologize that this content didn’t make the show).

Did we say that Katye hosted this one? Actually we should have said that Katye was the perfect pick to host this one. Will she host the next one? Unfortunately all the bitcoin in the world won’t make that happen – you get Corey back. Yep, deal with it.

So sit back, plug in for an excellent show and…
