AV Power Up! – Episode 52: Powering It Up With the techXchange

AVPowerUp_750x400Join the Crew: Corey Moss, Katye McGregor Bennett, Victoria Barela and Deron Pinchback as they welcome their guests:

Paul Zielie (@paulzielie) – Manager, Enterprise Solutions at Harman

Justin Watts (@PaladinMachina ) – Program Manager, AV Engineering at Google

Alesia Hendley (@thesmoothfactor) – AV Tech/Operator/The Berry Center at Cypress-Fairbanks ISD in Houston, TX

Christina Engh (@missenghwyoming) – COO at UA Solutions Group (on a call-in from NAB)

In 2015, Jane Johnson (host), Corey Moss, Johnny Mota and Christa Bender did a rAVe Radio show called techXchange (which ran seven episodes), in fact two of the guests on this AVP episode were guests on that show – Paul Zielie on Episode 2 and Christina Engh on Episode 7. On the show we discussed three top stories that were trending each week along with the guest(s), as we got to know them as well.

We’ve decided to bring the techXchange format back on this show, and you’ll hear it in the second half after we talk at the beginning with Christina who was at the NAB show in Las Vegas, as she tells us about latest developments in virtual reality as well as drones technology, and we may have some insider info here!

We then spend time catching up with Paul Zielie (still trying to master Twitter) who tells us all about what’s going on in the mind of the AV Wiz, Justin Watts who tells us why Google is the place to be, and it’s not just about nap pods and food and drink everywhere the eye can see (yes it is), and Alesia Hendley who tells us a little about herself as well as writing she is currently doing – we discuss this blog of hers on SoundGirls.org (she heads up the Houston chapter). Wait till you hear how Paul gets involved in this discussion (a can’t miss AVP moment for sure).

Then the second half shifts to techXchange as we discuss three trending stories:

Combined UCC Power: Mitel and Polycom Announce Merger – rAVe [Publications]

(also Followup to the Acquisitions: My Discussions with Polycom and Mitel on Cloud, UCC and Mobility – [rAVe Publications])

6 IoT Security Dangers To The Enterprise –Dark Reading

A drone may have collided with a major airliner for the first time – Digital Trends

We end it with a lightening round question that Corey poses to all the guests and then – the tables are turned on him at the end by one of the guests who poses a question to all of the participants. Stick around to hear that one.

So sit back, enjoy this extended version of the show and…
